The hard drive test doesn't do anything. That's normal. :biggreen:

Try the factory reset and see if it helps.

You might just want to buy one of those bigger hard drives anyway. They are nice.

320K files are no problem for my REN.

They take a standard laptop PATA drive, cloned from the stock drive right? Man, those PATA's are getting pricy now that they are getting phased out.

Maybe I'm missing the feature, but can't you play music from a USB drive without copying it over?

Edit: plus, it might be good to do a factory reset before upgrading the system, huh? Could the gracenotes thing be because it was never loaded?

Yes, first I'd do the reset and then see what happens.

The RER can only copy files from the USB port.

The RHR, which is a much better radio, will go in your car. It's an improved RER with a few more features such as playing directly from the USB port and BT streaming.

2010 radio would have come from the factory with the latest software, maps, and Gracenote DB loaded, as of the date it came off the assembly line.

The N/A could mean the software was upgraded and the Gracenote DB is now too old. Or it could mean the HD is borked.

I have cloned several REN drives for people and sent out numerous update discs all over the US and Canada. Cloning the drive is no problem. Expanding a QNX partition is something I have never managed to do. None of the software I was using at the time would expand those partitions.

Good to know! I'm off to burn those CD and DVD of the update. I will return with results!

Tried to do a reset, but after an hour of it just sitting there "resetting", I turned it on and it started back up like nothing changed... Update was successful, however now my radio think its in a Jeep! lol :spin: Did I get a wrong image?

The radio normally knows what vehicle it's in and displays the correct logo.

Chrysler changed the logos, though.

That could be the problem.

There was a problem with this when Dodge trucks became RAM trucks.

Or it might straighten itself out after a few key cycles. :biggreen:

Did you update the software, or just the Gracenote DB?

EDIT: you can also try the full reboot of the radio by either removing the radio fuse for 10 minutes, or disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes.

These are CAN bus network radios, and are never really off unless you pull the power. They only go to sleep when you turn the key off. Almost everything in your car is run by a network of computers and a server. The server is called the CAN bus controller. Powering down the CAN bus controller by disconnecting the battery can solve some problems.

Yeah it straightened out overnight. Gonna try the grace notes later. The dealership didn't know you could update the radio. Figures lol

What kind of partition structure does these hard drives have?

I was looking at this. Maybe using a 32 gig SD card for it. Is there separate partitions for pictures and music and such? And what software can you use to clone? Acronis? Symantic?

IIRC, people did not have good luck with SSD drives.

Any decent partition/cloning software will copy the drive.

The OS is QNX. Whatever file system QNX uses, is what's on the drive.

There are 4 partitions. OS/Personal/Nav/Gracenote as far as I recall.

Resurrecting this thread!!! So I have a 2007 Ram 1500 that had a REC radio in it. Replaced it last night with a RER from a 2008 Chrysler 300. Got the v5 Lockpick (which I didn't check to see if it needed an update, it may) and the GPS antenna, Sirius extension cable and UConnect cable. Everything is installed but have the following issues:
1) No pattern to it, but the screen will freeze for about 10 seconds, then the radio will reboot. I lose all station presets but the last station I was on, in any mode, is still there. I am going to pull the Lockpick this afternoon and try to update it and see what happens.
2) The clock won't set. It just reads a random time. I set it to GPS, User, doesn't matter.
3) My iPhone 6+ won't pair with the bluetooth. I was worried about this since these radios haven't had an update in over a year. My current update on the MyGIG is 2.404. Has anyone experience differently? Or found a fix?

Thanks! I hope I can get some replies ;)

Wow, I haven't dealt with a MyGig problem in quite a while.

Let me see what I can dig up.

What's interesting is the phone paired out of the blue and now works. But the clock is still an issue! Love the mygig :)

You may need the "clockfix" software?

Clockfix versions were modified to allow older vehicles without a clock module to get the time via GPS.

That's the last clockfix version, I think.

Someone may have modified 2.404, but I have not heard of it.
